Meet Our Instructors

RAFAELA RAY

Owner/Director

Rafaela has been dancing since the age of 5.  She received most of her dance training in Houston and has studied ballet, modern, pointe, jazz, lyrical, liturgical, and tap.  She has been an instructor at Turning Pointe for 15 years, took over management 7 years ago, and became the studio owner  5 years ago.  Since that time Turning Pointe has continued to grow and thrive.  Rafaela believes in providing each of her students with challenges to strive for but also leaving them with something to feel good about each week as they complete class.  She enjoys seeing her students grow as dancers and individuals. As Owner she has worked to make Turning Pointe an establishment that blesses all who enter with encouragement, a family atmosphere, and the love of Jesus.  When she is not at the studio she enjoys spending time at home with family and working as a therapist at the Neuropsychology Clinic.

TONJA GRAY

Tonja graduated from McMurry College with a BA in Elementary Education in 1988 and has taught in local school systems since that time.  She is currently working towards a Masters Degree in Curriculum Development in Literacy Studies.  Teaching has been a lifelong dream and passion for Tonja and she is blessed to do this in both academics and the performing arts.   Tonja has a special gift for working with our teen-adult students and is a wonderfully creative individual.  We are blessed to have her as part of our teaching staff.

Lindsey

LINDSEY BROTSCH

Lindsey started dancing at Turning Pointe in 2004 and we have been blessed to have her as an instructor for 10 years now.  She is an exquisite dancer and beautiful choreographer.   As an instructor she brings creativity of movement and a desire to see her students improve as dancers.   She always offers her students a challenge and encourages their hard work and perseverance.  Lindsey considers it a privilege to share the gift of dance with others.    She holds a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology and works as a crisis intervention specialist at the Betty Hardwick Center.

LAURA LOGAN

Laura is our advanced tap instructor and instructs our baby ballerinas and tappers as well.  She  owns Logan Piano Studio and plays accompaniment for the ACU Musical Theatre Department.   Laura brings high energy and enthusiasm to all of her teaching opportunities and is a beloved member of our Turning Pointe family.  She has two children Carter and Alex, who are also dancers. 

LEXI RITCHIE

Lexi has been dancing since age 3 and has trained in ballet, pointe, tap, lyrical, jazz, liturgical, hip hop, and musical theatre.   She has been a Turning Pointe instructor for six years and teaches tap, ballet, and lyrical.  This next year Lexi will be taking over as instructor for our Liturgical class.  This is a style that she has taken and practiced for many years as part of her ministry with St. Paul United Methodist Church.  Lexi is a Godly young woman who always shares a smile and shows love to every student she encounters.  She is a student at Abilene Christian University studying Marketing and Pre-Law.

BECCA RITCHIE

Becca has been dancing since the age of 3.  She is excited to begin her second year as a Turning Pointe instructor.  She has been excited to use all of her training to encourage and see her students grow in their skill and love of dance.  As an instructor Becca feels that the most important thing is for her students to love what they are doing.  When she is not dancing Becca enjoys art and drawing.

KASSIDY O’HERN

Kassidy has trained in ballet, tap, jazz, pointe, lyrical, contemporary, modern, and hip hop.   She approaches dancing with an exuberant passion and enjoys sharing this with each of her students.   This next season we are pleased to have Kassidy instructing ballet, tap, and jazz.   She has been  a long-time, treasured member of our Turning Point Family.

HANNA ROBERTS

Hanna has been dancing since the age of 3 and has trained in tap, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, and ballet.  Turning Pointe has been blessed to have her share her wonderful jazz and tap skills with our students.   This next year we are pleased to be offering Hip Hop once again under the instruction of Miss Hanna.  She has shown herself an excellent instructor and choreographer and in her first year became very loved by her students.  Hanna is from Corpus Christi and is attending ACU where she is pursuing majors in Management and Marketing.

MOLLY TURNBULL

Molly has been dancing with Turning Pointe most of her life.   She has training in ballet, tap, liturgical, lyrical, hip hop, and pointe.   Molly has been an assistant for several years and will be transitioning into a teaching position this next season.   We are pleased to have her instructing one of our Ballet/Tap 1 Combination classes and Beginning Hip Hop.   We are so glad to have her skill and talent so that we may share Hip Hop with our students once again.  Molly is an honor student and excels in everything that she undertakes.

KATE MILLER

Kate began taking ballet at the age of 4 and has since added lyrical and tap dancing to her interests.  She is a duel homeschool and McMurry University Student and participates in speech and debate with Cooper High School.  Kate is our spelling phenom and tied for 8th in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in 2014.   She continues to participate with success in many endeavors.  Kate is a confident young lady with an exuberance for God, life, and sharing her love of dance with others. Beginning to teach next year is a dream come true for her and she can hardly wait to meet her students.  

Kaitlin

KAITLIN PINE

Kaitlin has been dancing since age 3. She is truly an all-around dancer having trained in ballet, pointe, tap, modern, hip hop, and her favorites of jazz, contemporary, lyrical, and musical theater.  She has been a competition dancer for 11 years and was a member of her high school dance team.   She is now a member of the Omega Dance Company at Abilene Christian University where she is pursuing a major in Kinesiology and Pre-Occupational Therapy. Dance has always been a passion of Kaitlin’s.  She finds that dance is such a beautiful form of praise and she hopes to share that with her students next year as she joins our staff.  Kaitlin will be instructing contemporary, lyrical, and jazz.
